Construction's technology lag
Construction remains one of the slowest industries to adopt technology, which is why BIM continues to be treated as a design deliverable rather than a delivery tool. That framing wastes most of its value.
Design coordination in 3D is now standard. Scheduling in 4D and cost management in 5D are where the risk actually sits — and where the most avoidable disputes originate.
What 4D actually catches
Simulating the schedule against the model surfaces problems that a Gantt chart conceals: sequences that require two trades in the same space, crane and laydown conflicts, temporary works that were never scheduled, and access routes that close before the work behind them finishes.

Governance is the hard part
